Terra Firma Wine Company is an independent distributor, importer, and broker of limited-production, hand-crafted wines, made in the 'old-world' style. The wineries we represent - from France, Italy, New Zealand, Germany, Oregon, and California – each of these strive to capture a sense of place, or terroir, through their wines. The wines reflect the results derived through rigorous work in the vineyards, but minimal intervention in the cellar. Our customers include restaurants and wine retailers in Northern California who are dedicated to providing an outstanding, eclectic selection of wines to their clientele. Terra Firma Wine Company, LLC, was launched in 2003, and is owned by Ted and Kristen Talley. We are based in Oakland, California. Ted studied oenology and viticulture in Burgundy, at the Lycee Viticole in Beaune and the Universite de Bourgogne in Dijon. He worked for several years pruning and harvesting in vineyards in the Burgundian village of Meursault. Finding farming to be backbreaking work, he moved back to San Francisco and has sold wine in the Bay Area since 1996. In 2005, Kristen left a 15 year career in the insurance industry to run the company's operations (and has never looked back!).
